Converting wins Blue Chip

Converting, Clintonville, Wis., has been selected as one of 200 businesses nationwide to receive the Blue Chip Enterprise Award (BCEA). The award recognizes small businesses that have demonstrated the ability to withstand the cyclical nature of business by overcoming adversity, seizing opportunities and achieving inspirational success.

Converting, a family-owned, privately held business, has manufactured and marketed disposable tabletop products since 1968. The company has evolved during the past six years from a small niche player in the industry to a mid-sized company that is considered a full-line supplier. It has worked to implement new marketing strategies and expand manufacturing core competencies.

The award is co-sponsored by MassMutual and the United States Chamber of Commerce.

Tentnology wins gala award

Tentnology Co., Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, received a gala award for Best Tent Installation at The Special Event awards ceremony in New Orleans in January.

Tentnology’s winning entry consisted of 70,000 square feet of Structures, shipped from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Maui, Hawaii, for a millennium vehicle launch for Lexus. The tents, constructed of industrial fabric and aluminum aircraft trusses, offered an artistic design element and futuristic look. A custom-designed structure in the center connected three tents for a clear span of 20,000 square feet. “Space Articulators” enhanced a light show while hiding backstage preparation and storage.

“We have found the greatest satisfaction in that out of 32 categories, Canada brought home six awards,” said Suzanne Warner, Tentnology vice president. “This shows tremendous growth on an international level for Canadian special event professionals in an extremely competitive industry.”
