This month, Rental Management looks at a variety of selected products from some of the more than 670 companies scheduled to exhibit at The Rental Show 2014 in Orlando, Fla.

Gehl telescopic handlers

The RS Series telescopic handlers from Gehl, West Bend, Wis., are powered by 115-hp John Deere Tier 4i PowerTech PWX engines. The company says the series of telescopic handlers — including the RS6-42, RS8-42, RS8-44, RS10-44, RS10-55 and RS12-42 — offer the same performance features as previous models with welded box-section boom that can handle high-lift capacities from 5,000 to 12,000 lbs. and lift heights over 55 ft.

Manitou forklift

The M 30 and M 50 rough-terrain vertical masted forklifts from Manitou, West Bend, Wis., are equipped with 74-hp Perkins
Tier 4-certified diesel engines that deliver up to 235 ft.-lbs. of torque. Both models are available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive and have lift heights up to 23 ft. and 19 ft. 8 in., respectively. The M 30 has a lift capacity of 6,063 lbs. while the M 50’s lift capacity is 11,023 lbs.

Atlas Copco gas breakers

The Cobra Pro line of gasoline-powered breakers from Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA, Commerce City, Colo., is designed for medium to heavy demolition applications. The breakers deliver 44 ft.-lbs. of impact energy. The company says the breaker’s redesigned silencer, with catalytic element and improved heat shield, provides lower vibration levels.

Sure Flame heater

The IX1500 indirect-fired heater from Sure Flame, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, operates on either propane or natural gas to deliver 1.5 million Btu per hour. The company says the heater has a 10-hp motor to  increase cfm by about 50 percent compared to the previous version and a new stainless-steel combustion chamber designed to increase efficiency and reliability. The 32.5-in.-wide heater can fit through most openings, comes in various power configurations and converts between fuels with a turn of a handle.

Landoll Corp. trailers

Trailers from Landoll Corp., Marysville, Kan., range from 5 ton to 55 ton and 42 ft. to 53 ft. for use in towing, construction, agricultural, rental, material handling, salvage and container storage applications. The company also offers optional hot-dipped galvanizing up to 53 ft. to help prevent rust.

BOMAG plate compactor

The BVP Series single-directional plate compactors from BOMAG Americas, Kewanee, Ill., are designed for use in a variety of applications, including soil or asphalt compaction to paver and patio installation. The compactors are powered by air-cooled Honda gasoline engines with low-oil alert. The series includes the 183-lb. BVP 10/36, which covers a working width of 14.2 in. and produces 2,250 lbs. of centrifugal force, and the 201-lb. BVP 18/45, which has a working width of 17.7 in. and delivers 4,050 lbs. of centrifugal force.

Flagro USA heater

The 750,000 Btu indirect-fired heater from Flagro USA, Burnsville, Minn., has different options for fuel. The FVO-750TRFC is an oil unit and the FVNP-750TR is a dual fuel unit that can be powered by propane or natural gas.

Jenny Products compressor

The G-series single-stage wheeled portable compressors from Jenny Products, Somerset, Pa., have heavy-duty, single-stage cast-iron compressor pumps powered by 8-hp Honda GX series gasoline engines that come with a recoil or electric start. G-series compressors are designed to deliver up to 16.2 cfm at 100 psi or 15.6 cfm at 125 psi, the company says. The series also is available with four air tank configurations, including 8- and 15-gal. tanks, which are low-profile powder-coated twin-tank receivers; and 17- and 30-gal. tanks, which are powder-coated and ASME certified.

Oxford Plastics road plate

The road plate from Oxford Plastics, East Providence, R.I., is designed as a lighter-weight substitution for steel plates to cover trenches and other openings. As a modular system, individual units can be linked together and installed manually by two people, the company says, eliminating the need to use lifting equipment to place the plates.


Thompson Pump trash pump

The 6HT wet-prime trash pump from Thompson Pump, Port Orange, Fla., is made of heavy-duty cast iron and has the ability to self-prime and re-prime automatically, the company says. The pump provides flow rates up to 1,500 gpm, heads to 102 ft. and is designed to handle solids up to 3 in.


Nighthawk Machinery tires

The dura-flex and soli-core solid rubber tires from Nighthawk Machinery, Tomball, Texas, are designed for use with skid-steer loaders and heavy equipment. The company says the tires are 100 percent flat-proof and can last three to five times longer than pneumatic tires. In addition, the company says, no specialized equipment is needed for installation.


Schaefer Ventilation Equipment fan

The 16-in. heat mover circulation fans from Schaefer Ventilation Equipment, Sauk Rapids, Minn., are designed to operate in high-temperature environments. The fan provides multi-directional air movement and supplies higher airflow with lower amp draws to evenly distribute heated air throughout the space, the company says. The portable fan also is ductable.


Split-Fire Sales log splitter

The 3255 log splitter from Split-Fire Sales, Norwich, Ontario, Canada, is powered by a Honda GX 160 series engine and can be towed on the highway. The company says the compact machine is simple to operate and was originally designed specifically for the equipment rental industry.


Volvo Construction Equipment excavator

The ECR25D short-swing-radius compact excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment, Shippensburg, Pa., has a narrow design to work in confined areas and urban environments. The 2.5-ton ECR25D has a combined breakout and tear out force of 8,453 lbs., which is greater than the 2.8-ton ECR28 excavator it replaces. The company says the total transport weight — including three  buckets, a hydraulic breaker and small trailer — is 3.5 tons.

Charnecke Tents tent washers

The BK Series tent washers from Charnecke Tents, Rosholt, Wis., come in three sizes — 1,000-, 2,000- or 3,000-plus-sq.-ft. capacities. Each unit is self-contained and requires no special plumbing, the company says. The washers also can be wired for 50-amp, 240V, single-phase service or 50-amp, 208V, three-phase service.


Belle Group rammer

The RTX range, heavy-duty, narrow body trench rammers from Belle Group, Roanoke, Va., can be used on cohesive materials and gradients and have both triple-filtration air cleaner systems and dual-filtration fuel systems. There are wooden and plastic foot options with various widths available, as well as service kits, a wheel kit and customer color options.

The rustic cedar full-sheet vinyl floor section from California Portable Dance Floor Co., Camarillo, Calif., has a solid 3-ft.-by-4-ft. sheet of vinyl in each section as opposed to the 1-ft. square vinyl tiles of the company’s other styles. The E-ZLift E-ZMite compact, light-duty conveyor from Multilift, Denver, comes in 10-ft. and 12-ft. models to move such items as dirt, gravel, coal, landscape and demolition materials. The EZMite uses a high-torque Bison gear motor and directly connects to 115V power. The company says multiple units can be daisy-chained to a single breaker and set up in a series to cover long distances and multiple belting options.

Event Equipment Sales dance floor

The Outlok® dance floor from Event Equipment Sales, Hodgkins, Ill., is designed as an all-weather outdoor plank floor and has been tested in temperatures ranging from 50 degrees below zero to 105 degrees Fahrenheit with no fluctuation in the plastic, the company says. The top layer is made of heavy-duty vinyl strips with adhesive applied to permanently affix the layers. The clips for the tool-free connection system are injection molded nylon and detachable for replacement, if necessary.
