Tim Novoselski

Tim Novoselski, 62, died Aug. 15, 2013, in McCall, Idaho. Novoselski, as president and CEO of Miramar Communications, was the owner/publisher of Rental Equipment Register (RER) for more than 20 years and the co-founder of Special Events magazine. RER was founded in 1957 by Novoselski’s father-in-law, Jim Gartland. Novoselski and his wife and business partner, Denise, launched Special Events as a quarterly insert into RER in 1982. Special Events became a stand-alone monthly in 1984. RER and Miramar Communications were sold to Primedia in 1998. “Tim was passionately committed to the rental industry and was close friends with dozens or even hundreds of rental people. The extraordinary growth of the rental industry in recent years did not surprise him at all — he predicted it decades ago,” said Michael Roth, RER’s editor-in-chief. Novoselski also was one of the founding investors for SmartEquip, Norwalk, Conn., and served as president of the Western Publications Association, based in Los Angeles. He was a board member of the American Business Press, representing the country’s largest publishing companies, headquartered in New York and also served as a board member for Business Publications Audit Worldwide. Most recently Novoselski served on the board of directors of the McCall-Donnelly Education Foundation, a nonprofit based in McCall, Idaho.
