ARA of Indiana hosts ‘kickoff’ event

After the official reactivation of the ARA of Indiana at The Rental Show 2012 in New Orleans, the group’s new board wanted to do something big for its first event. They spent several months planning the inaugural reactivation meeting, which included a discussion of products and services available through the American Rental Association (ARA) and an Indianapolis Colts football game.

The weekend of Dec. 8-9, 2012, brought 46 people from 17 stores to Indianapolis for football, fellowship and fun that started with a meet-and-greet in the hospitality suite at the Omni Hotel on Saturday, where ARA of Indiana members had the opportunity to network and socialize with each other. At Sunday morning’s member meeting, board members formally introduced themselves and explained several benefits of membership in ARA and the ARA of Indiana. After the meeting and lunch, the group walked to Lucas Oil Stadium to watch the Indianapolis Colts rack up a win over the Tennessee Titans.

“The combination of meeting others in the industry, the location and the game piqued my interest and brought me out for this event,” says Steven Franz, owner of Regional Rentals & Sales in Hobart, Ind. “There’s a lot to be learned from the people we associate with in the industry throughout the state. There’s always someone who has gone through whatever you’re dealing with in your business who can share their ideas with you.”

“The Colts game was a good way to wind down the year,” says Nancy Stacy, branch manager of Midwest Portable Restrooms A Division of Midwest Rentals in Lafayette, Ind. “The whole event was well-organized and a lot of fun. Networking is so important in our business, especially for the smaller operations. The low-key meet-and-greet was a great opportunity to get to know people in our state association.”

“This event was really top-notch,” says Terry Trusgnich, president of Aide Rentals & Sales II in Highland, Ind., and ARA Region Five director. “The board put a lot of work into this weekend and it showed. Everyone there had a great time getting to know each other and taking in an exciting game.”

“I can personally say that I had an incredible time at this event getting to know those in attendance,” says Ron Brissette, ARA of Indiana president and president of Interstate Power Tools & Machinery d/b/a Interstate Rentals in Chesterton, Ind. “It was a tremendously fun and exciting experience.”
