Events & Tents breakfast to feature tablecloths on the runway
It’s hard to imagine wearing a tablecloth, but that’s just what several models will do to illustrate the fashion sense required to cater to customers of the rental industry. Those attending the Events & Tents program during The Rental Show 2013 on Saturday, Feb. 9, will experience a one-of-a-kind way to view the newest and hottest linens during the Fabric Fashion Show at The Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
Four linen exhibitors at The Rental Show are sponsoring the Fabric Fashion Show, including A-1 Tablecloth Co., South Hackensack, N.J.; GBS Linens, Anaheim, Calif.; Jomar Table Linens, Ontario, Calif.; and LinenPro Designs, La Habra, Calif. Each company provided their newest tablecloths, runners, napkins and sashes to fashion design students at the International Academy of Design & Technology in Las Vegas.
The academy provides training for those in fashion design and merchandising, which includes education in predicting consumer behavior and trend forecasting, as well as illustration, construction and marketing. Each fashion design program student must create a portfolio of work that showcases their creativity and technical expertise.
The students created their unique fashion designs based on the linens they received and the illustrations are examples. The final fashions will be presented by professional models on a catwalk as the kickoff to the Events & Tents program on Feb. 9 at 8 a.m.
“There is such a new, colorful and sophisticated level of linen products available now, and these students have been inspired by them,” says Allison Box, senior administrative director of association services for the American Rental Association (ARA), organizers of The Rental Show and Events & Tents. “The creativity and talent of these students is amazing, and their work will provide a terrific showcase to start Events & Tents this year. As an added benefit for attendees, the same linens used for the fashions will be on the tables during the Fabric Fashion Show, so they’ll have an up-close look at these latest trends.”
Admittance to the Fabric Fashion Show is included with registration for Events & Tents, which also includes a full day of educational sessions focused on party/special event rental and a lunch presentation from event designer Sasha Souza of Sasha Souza Events, Napa, Calif. Registration for Events & Tents was sold out in early January.
The program concludes with a networking reception at Keep Memory Alive Event Center that evening, a Frank Gehry-designed venue that’s part of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health founded by Nevada businessman and philanthropist Larry Ruvo. All event revenues support the mission of the center to enhance treatment, research and prevention of neurocognitive disorders. Tickets to the reception are an additional $50.
