New Hampshire meeting focuses on generational differences
The ARA of New Hampshire’s November meeting at Red Blazer Restaurant & Pub in Concord, N.H., was geared towards helping rental business owners, managers and associate members find better ways to understand and connect with all generations.
“The social aspect of the meeting allowed our members to catch up, tell ‘war’ stories and talk about new equipment. It was a great opportunity to network and bounce ideas off each other and talk to some of our vendors,” says Mark Fraser, Epsom Tool Rental, Epsom, N.H.
After the social hour and dinner, Jenni Venema, ARA Foundation director of development, presented a program addressing the many generational differences found among staff members, customers and association members. She focused on the qualities specific to each generation in the areas of work ethics, attitudes and practices, and how to incorporate those differences to enhance business relationships.
“As always, the program was the highlight of the meeting,” Fraser says. “There were several baby boomers in attendance, as well as people from Generation X and the millennial generation, all of whom were interested in learning and getting insight about what makes the other generations ‘tick.’ It was interesting to see how developments in technology are linked to each generation and even evolve within a generation. It also gave me some things to think about for my marketing strategy.”
