ARA to launch ARA Young Professionals Network

If you are a rental professional between the ages of 18 and 40, the ARA Young Professionals Network is designed to be the group for you.

“Whether you are working in your family business or are a rental store employee who wants to make a career in the equipment rental industry, you have unique needs as a future rental industry leader. The ARA Foundation, in conjunction with the American Rental Association (ARA), understands that and is dedicated to helping you receive the information and support you need, from business succession assistance to mentoring and networking with others your own age so you can be successful in this industry. The ARA Young Professionals Network is designed to do just that,” says Jenni Venema, ARA Foundation director of development.

ARA plans to officially kick off the new ARA Young Professionals Network at The Rental Show 2013, Feb. 10-13, at The Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas with:

  • Seminars specifically suited for young rental professionals. Look at The Rental Show Planner and see a whole host of seminars Sunday, Feb. 10, that are recommended because of their particular benefit to those in this age group. This includes the seminar, “Rental Reality: How to Best Enhance, Protect and Transition Your Rental Company and Wealth,” with Leon and Terrance Resnick of Resnick Associates in Kansas City, Mo., and Harrisburg, Pa. The ARA Foundation is presenting this seminar that will review what those in family-owned rental businesses need to know regarding business succession and avoiding harmful mistakes.
  • Reception just for young rental professionals. From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, the ARA Foundation will host the ARA Young Professionals Network Reception at FIRST Food and Bar inside The Shoppes at The Palazzo. This reception, sponsored by Arrow Manufacturing, BOMAG and Vermeer, is for young professionals and their parents. It will provide a chance for younger attendees to expand their business contacts and for seasoned rental professionals to discuss their goals for the family business as future generations enter ownership. The evening will be a relaxed environment for networking and building friendships.

In addition, the ARA Foundation plans to create a member directory and provide a secure space online at ARArental.org as ARA’s Member-to-Member Forum for young professionals to allow those in the group to get to know each other, share ideas, make friends and learn from each other, Venema says.

“The ARA Young Professionals Network is designed to help those in the 18-40 age group connect with others their own age for personal and professional growth,” she says. “Individuals in this age group are the future leaders of our industry and we want to make sure we   provide them all of the resources necessary to be successful in their rental careers.”
