ARA forms working group to determine best practices
Members of the American Rental Association’s (ARA) Member Risk Management Committee, meeting in Kansas City, Mo., in April, determined that there is a need to document best practices for the party and event segment of the rental industry, and specifically
for tent rental.
To that end, a working group was convened and work has begun on best practices for emergency planning. The objective of the document is to provide guidance in protecting event participants’ safety. It will include educational components for members, their employees and customers, as well as a sample emergency plan.
Once completed, the document will be available to all ARA members via ARArental.org. In addition, the subject will be presented at Events & Tents during The Rental Show 2013. Additional information on this initiative will be released in the coming months.
Working group members include: Timothy Maloney Sr., CERP, president, Canton Chair Rental, Canton, Ohio and chair of the ARA Member Risk Management Committee; Terry Turner, CERP, president, All Occasions Party Rentals, Knoxville, Tenn. and chair of the ARA Party and Event Services Shared Interest Group; Denis Cague, director of safety and training, Classic Party Rentals, Phoenix; Todd Darby, compliance manager, Diamond Rental, Salt Lake City; John Donison, safety manager, Classic Tents, Torrance, Calif.; Scott Woodruff, president, Event Central Rental and Sales, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; John Fuchs, general manager – special events, Anchor Industries, Evansville, Ind.; Alex Kouzmanoff, vice president, Aztec Tents, Torrance, Calif.; and Michael Tharpe, director of sales, TopTec Products, Moore, S.C.
