When Matt Musgrove, president of Tejas Equipment Rental & Sales in McAllen, Texas, had job openings at his five locations, he turned to the American Rental Association’s (ARA) online job board for help in finding qualified candidates. “I recently posted a number of jobs — from management positions to outside sales, counter positions and drivers,” he says. “We received quite a bit of traffic. I was impressed.” As an ARA member, Musgrove was able to post these positions for free. Postings on the ARA job board are listed on the ARA’s website, www.ARArental.org, as well as on www.indeed.com, a job board aggregator; the National Urban League’s job board; and the American Veterans Association job board. All postings are linked to the ARA job board, providing a broader reach for job listings. That proved to be a successful formula for Musgrove. “We received a handful of candidates for each position,” he says. “On a daily basis, I received e-mail alerts regarding résumés that might be a good fit for the position. We hired three people from the job board.” The ARA job board can be accessed via the “Quick Links” tab on www.ARArental.org, or at ARA’s Rental Careers Center, www.RentalCareers.com. As the economy improves, the job board has been getting more attention, too. Since the beginning of the year, the site has received more than 100,000 views. Currently, there are 1,025 résumés posted and nearly 50 active job listings. “I think this is an underutilized resource,” Musgrove says. “It has been getting good traffic. I would think that if more people use it, it will only improve. I had good success with it.” |
