The Rental Show returns to Orlando in 2014

In 2014, The Rental Show will take place in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 9-12, at the Orange County Convention Center. The show will be housed in the same North-South halls as in 2010.

The location for The Rental Show 2013 was shifted to Las Vegas in order to schedule Orlando for 2014, so that The Rental Show would not be in the same city as ConExpo-CON/AGG, which is held once every three years in Las Vegas.

“Our exhibitors asked us to change the locations, so that we’re not in the same city as ConExpo-CON/AGG. That’s what we’ve done,” says Allison Box, senior administrative director of association services for the American Rental Association (ARA), organizer of The Rental Show.

Race to register first for The Rental Show 2014 ends in tie

For the first time, the American Rental Association (ARA) offered attendees at The Rental Show 2013 in Las Vegas the chance to lock in prices and register for next year’s show.

As a result, early Tuesday, Feb. 12, there were two people vying to be the first person to register for The Rental Show 2014 in Orlando.

James Morden, owner, Rentshop, Alliston, Ontario, Canada, arrived at 5:15 a.m. to be first, and John Bibbo Jr., CERP, president, Event Source, Cleveland, who has been the first to register online for the past few years, arrived at the registration area at The Sands Expo and Convention Center in his robe and slippers.

As the two vied for the right to claim to be the first registrant, ARA staff members registered both ARA members at the same time and declared the race a tie.

The Rental Show gains more global participation

Representatives of rental companies from at least 43 countries attended The Rental Show 2013 in Las Vegas. Attendees were welcomed at a reception held in their honor on Tuesday, Feb. 12, where longstanding members of more than 20 years were recognized, among them Kennard’s Hire of Australia, an American Rental Associaton (ARA) member for 49 years. The Global Rental Alliance, pictured below, which includes hire/rental associations based in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States, held its annual meeting at the show.

Kiloutou brings 226 top managers to show

Kiloutou, the second-largest equipment rental company in France, rewarded 226 of its top managers by bringing them to Las Vegas for The Rental Show 2013. Xavier du Boys, Kiloutou’s president and director general, said each staff member had to “earn their seat” to attend the show. “They are the best in their field in the company,” he says.
