Linen fashion show, seminars and more 

Events & Tents, the educational program just for those in the party and event segment of the equipment rental industry, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, at The Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Events & Tents will kick off this year with a fashion show, complete with linens from the rental runway, and a continental breakfast. The first ever Fabric Fashion Show will feature linens from manufacturers in various looks designed by the students from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Las Vegas.

Following the opening session, seminars will be held throughout the day, focusing on sales/marketing, operations management, trends and technology, and tenting. Sessions from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. include “Accelerate Your Growth With an Effective Sales Team,” “Take a Seat: Is Renting Furniture Right for You?” “Gadgets and Gizmos: Get the Most From Your Devices” and “Storm Watch: Plan for the Unexpected.” From 10:30 a.m. to noon, there will be roundtables and panels on “Standing Out From the Competition,” “Learn the Secrets to Processing Your Linens In-House,” “From Showroom to Design Center” and “The Right Tent for the Right Job.”

Sasha Souza, owner, Sasha Souza Events, will give the lunch presentation at 12:15 p.m. Souza is a well-known event designer and author, and will talk about “Attention to Detail: Showcasing Your Art, Craft and Design.” Souza also will host a one-on-one session at 2 p.m. for Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) graduates, prior registration required, and will co-host a seminar with Melissa Levy at 3:45 p.m. about color.

Following lunch, seminars from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. include “Exhibit Essentials: Secrets to a Successful Bridal Show,” “Grow Your Bottom Line: Efficiencies in Dispatching Management,” a repeat of “Gadgets and Gizmos” and “Dress It Up: Décor and Design Ideas for Tented Events.” Seminars from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. include “Go Social: Link Code, Pin and Post to Market Your Business,” “Virtual Tours: Unique Solutions to Operating a Rental Business,” “Color Couture: Transforming Space Into Higher Profits” and “Staging and Tent Permitting: Be Part of the Solution.”

This year, the Events & Tents Inspiration Gallery will return, offering an opportunity to view event photos from various rental stores. The Inspiration Gallery will be on display throughout Events & Tents and The Rental Show. All Gallery participants will be available in the Gallery during the afternoon break on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. to talk with attendees and answer questions about their photos.

That night, the Events & Tents Reception: Keep Memory Alive will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center in downtown Las Vegas. The venue, designed by Frank Gehry, supports the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Advance registration and a ticket are required.

Advanced registration for Events & Tents 2013 is $275 for American Rental Association (ARA) members through Feb. 1, and $375 for prospective members. The reception is $50 for each attendee and $70 for an attendee guest (limit two). Complete details are online at TheRentalShow.com.
