Rental equipment, unique items and trips will be up for bid at the show
Assisting those in disaster-torn areas, helping kids attain higher education and advising rental stores on business practices are just three of the ways the ARA Foundation gives back to the equipment rental community. Each year at The Rental Show, the Reception With a Purpose, featuring the annual ARA Foundation Charity Auction, gives attendees the opportunity to give back to the rental industry and make those efforts possible.
This year, the Reception With a Purpose will take place from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at The Sands Expo and Convention Center. The reception will include hors d’oeuvres and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks for the first hour. The seventh annual live charity auction, sponsored by Chicago Pneumatic Construction, Genie, Graco and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, will feature a number of items up for bid, including rental equipment and packages. Items include:
- AirPac, COOLIT2600 1.1 ton portable air conditioner.
- Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment, CP 1230 Pneumatic Breaker.
- EDCO – Equipment Development Co., handheld 16-in. electric saw.
- General Equipment Co., reproduction of a 1920s visible gasoline pump decorated with Harley-Davidson colors and signage.
- Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, iPad.
- Stone Construction Equipment/The Toro Co., Disney vacation package.
- Tiresocks, three-night “Winter Wonderland” ski vacation.
“Exhibitors have been generous and creative this year with several fun and unique items and trips. Each year the auction grows and attracts new donors and bidders. We appreciate all the support the exhibitors give to this charitable event,” says Cathy DeBusk, CERP, ARA Foundation chair, and vice president, Party People Rentals, Phoenix.
Proceeds from the auction and donations help support the ARA Foundation and its programs, including the scholarship programs, the disaster relief and recovery program and the Rental Executive Advisory Program (REAP). This year, the Foundation donated $6,000 to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army to help with Hurricane Sandy relief. The Foundation also will offer 49 scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year, worth more than $62,000, including affiliate scholarships.
”The ARA Foundation is here to help rental industry members whether it is through funding for education, assisting with disaster recovery or offering advice and mentoring. We were proud to be able to send funds to assist with recovery efforts for our members, their employees and their communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy,” says Christine Wehrman, ARA Foundation executive director and executive vice president and CEO of the American Rental Association (ARA).
To register for an auction number prior to the auction, visit the ARA Foundation kiosk at the ARA Member Resource Center, Booth No. 828 on the show floor, or Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, Booth No. 2814. You also can register for an auction number at the show registration area or at the reception.
All items will be unreserved, so each item will sell to the highest bidder and there are no minimum bids or reserve prices. No sales tax will be collected. All auction items are brand new equipment and packages, and will be shown at the auction via a PowerPoint® presentation.
Equipment and packages can be seen at the booths of the donating exhibitors as well as online at ARAfoundation.com. All sales are final and purchases must be paid in full on auction day. Allied Financial Solutions, Booth No. 2730, is offering financing for the auction, six months same as cash, and will be at the event to answer any questions. Payments will be made to the ARA Foundation.
