  • Mike Watts, founder and executive chairman of Sunstate Equipment Co., Phoenix, will take over the role of chairman for Mobile Mini, Tempe, Ariz., which has a rental fleet of 235,000 portable storage containers and office units in the U.S., U.K. and the Netherlands, following the departure of Steve Bunger, president, CEO and chairman, who will leave the company at the end of the year. Mobile Mini has formed a search committee to find a new CEO and expects to have one in place before Bunger’s departure. Watts, who was inducted into the Rental Hall of Fame at The Rental Show 2010 in Orlando, Fla., has been a Mobile Mini director since 2002 and its lead director since 2005. He founded Sunstate Equipment Co. in 1977, which has 54 equipment rental locations across nine states, where he currently serves as executive chairman.

  • As part of an ongoing initiative to increase the value it brings to its independent rental store partners, Virginia Abrasives Corp., Petersburg, Va., has enhanced its FindARentalStore.com website. In addition to a visual redesign, the site now features enhanced location-based search capabilities, designed to make it easier for DIY customers and contractors to find a nearby dealer. The improved site also provides each dealer’s address and contact information as well as a link to their website. The Virginia Abrasives product lines range from sandpaper discs, belts and rolls to diamond and bonded abrasive blades.
  • Ericson Manufacturing Co., Willoughby, Ohio, has launched web-based product selection tools for a range of products including wiring devices, mini and micro cable assemblies and wire mesh grips. “Our new web-based product selection tools greatly simplify the process of accurately identifying thousands of products,” said Jon Semancik, Ericson’s product manager. “This approach saves our customers time and effort and is just the beginning of Ericson’s transition to a new generation of customer productivity tools.” The product identification tools have drop-down menus that guide users through the selection process. The company says similar products can be compared and contrasted, with the click of a mouse, eliminating the guesswork associated with device identification and selection.
