Likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney addressed the most recent jobs report in July at Bradley’s Hardware, Wolfeboro, N.H. Alex Hunt, owner of Bradley’s Hardware, an American Rental Association (ARA) member store, was not surprised when the Romney campaign requested the use of his facility for the speech, which was mainly for the media.
While Hunt did not actively solicit the visit, he suspects that the relationship he has built through Romney’s patronage over the years may have had something to do with the campaign’s choice of venue.
“This was nothing new for us. He frequents local businesses and has been coming in and doing business in my store since the late 1990s. This was just like any other visit, except this time he had national news networks with him,” Hunt says. — Sarah Peterson
