Samsonite re-launches furniture business
Samsonite, Mansfield, Mass., perhaps best known for its luggage and travel accessories, is re-launching its furniture business with folding chairs and tables in a variety of colors and styles. The company describes its 2200 Series injection-molded folding chair as its flagship product. The powder-coated 6-lb. chair is made of 20-gauge tempered steel and is designed to be stacked up to 60 chairs high while fitting through a doorway, the company says. The chairs also are covered under a 10-year warranty. Some of the other furniture products from Samsonite include all-steel folding chairs, with or without vinyl or fabric padding; fanback folding chairs with or without fabric padding; chair trolley; 60-in. and 71-in. round blow mold tables; and 4-ft., 6-ft. and 8-ft. blow-mold folding tables. At presstime, the company was working on a website for its furniture business and expected to start shipping products in June.
EZ-Fit cooling system
The EZ-Fit modular cooling system from United CoolAir Corp., York, Pa., is designed for complete indoor installation to replace old air conditioning systems without site demolition or the need of special lifting or rigging equipment.
Allen Engineering trowel
The Allen HDX 750 all hydraulic-powered riding trowel from Allen Engineering Corp., Paragould, Ark., is the latest in the series of hydra-drive extreme (HDX) Allen® riders and is powered by a 74-hp Kubota turbo diesel engine. The trowel has joystick power steering, a powered spray system for retardant application, 60-in.-diameter six-bladed rotors, removable steps to access blades and an optional dolly jack transport wheels to move the rider on the job site.
Doosan articulated dump truck
The Doosan DA30 articulated dump truck from Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment America, West Fargo, N.D., is part of a line of machines redesigned by the company to offer increased engine power and torque, higher payloads, lower fuel consumption, enhanced operator comfort and faster travel speeds, the company says.
Hyundai wheel loaders
The HL740-9 and HL757-9 wheel loaders from Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas, Norcross, Ga., are part of the company’s new 9 series of high-powered earthmovers. The machines are powered by Cummins Tier 3 QSB6.7 engines, which are electronically controlled to optimize fuel to air ratio for cleaner and more efficient combustions, have can be operated in three engine modes — power, standard or econo — ranging from full power to reduced fuel consumption.
The SK170 Mark 9 full-size excavator from Kobelco Construction Machinery America, Racine, Wis., is designed to provide more power and faster engine response to increase productivity by 10 percent while being 10 percent more fuel efficient, the company says. The SK170 Mark 9 also has the company’s first selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emission solution for excavators to meet Tier 4i emissions regulations.
Chicago Pneumatic compressor
The CPS 750 JD7 Tier 4a rotary screw portable compressor from Chicago Pneumatic, Independence, Ohio, is designed to generate 750 cfm of air at 100 psi. The compressor is powered by a Tier 4a-compliant, 200-hp John Deere six-cylinder diesel engine and is designed for heavy-duty construction environments. The company says the electronically controlled, water-cooled engine, variable speed fan and new air end reduces fuel consumption to 8.2 gal. per hour at 100 percent load, which means with a 78-gal. fuel capacity, the compressor can more than a full eight-hour day at full load.
Jenny Products compressor series
The GT-Series of electric-powered, two-stage air compressors from Jenny Products, Somerset, Pa., includes four models with 8-, 15-, 17- and 30-gal. tanks. All units produce 15.5 cfm at 100 psi or 15.2 cfm at 175 psi. Each compressor is driven by commercial-grade, 5-hp electric motors operating from a 230V, single-phase power source. To reduce maintenance requirements, the company says the GT-Series of compressors include powder-coated air tanks and heavy-duty cast-iron compressor pumps while a directional air shroud, finned intercooler and large flywheel are designed to keep pump temperatures low and assist in startup.
