Ray O’Neal, 92, Hurst, Texas, died Feb. 24, 2012. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. In 1956, O’Neal and his wife, Tommie, started A-1 Rental, Fort Worth, Texas. He received the Region Four “Person of the Year” award for 1967 from the American Rental Association (ARA) and he served on the ARA board of directors from 1969 to 1973. In 1981, he received the ARA’s “President’s Image Award.” In 1998, the O’Neals retired from the business, but they continued to stay in touch with many of their employees. Today, the O’Neals’ son, Don, is president of Rental One, which operates from six locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. O’Neal was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Tommie, in 2008; great-granddaughter, Rae Leslie Beadles, in 2010; and daughter, Linda Moore, in 2011. He is survived by a son, four granddaughters, a grandson and 11 great-grandchildren.
