At its regularly scheduled board meeting in Orlando, Fla., in February, the board of the Rental Association of Canada voted unanimously in favor of changing the association’s name and logo, which have represented the equipment rental industry in Canada for more than 40 years. Pending member approval, the RAC will officially become the Canadian Rental Association (CRA).
“It just makes sense,” said retiring Executive Director Dorothy Wellnitz. “People have often referred to us as such and often call and ask if they've reached the Canadian Rental Association, so why not have the name reflect what people are inclined to refer to you as?” Wellnitz will retire after more than 21 years at the helm in September and will be replaced by her daughter, Mandy Maeren, who currently serves as executive assistant.
“It’s a new day at the CRA,” said Paul Kenyon, incoming chairman of the board. “Our board of directors is working diligently to build added value into the cost of membership. We’ve recently added a great new Web site, electronicized our membership directory, added a new online credit monitoring service and are about to launch an all-new ‘member- driven’ protected self-insurance program in the next few months. We have several new committees working on a number of different fronts and it is all designed to improve the benefits of membership. It was the perfect time for a change.”
Wendy Dalkin of Gamboge Design in Toronto is responsible for the new look of the CRA, having designed a new logo and related branding materials.
