Brown Rental has been a member of the A.R.A. since 1981. Bengson purchased the store in February 1980, and a second store, Court Tool & Equipment, which merged with Brown Rental, in 1982.
He served on the A.R.A. Board of Directors and as Region Eight director from 1994 to 1996. He holds a membership in the A.R.A. of Idaho, in which he served as vice president from 1993 to 1996 and as legislative chairperson in 1997.
Bengson also is a member of the Southern Idaho Rental Association and has served as its president, vice president and secretary.
Bengson served on the A.R.A. Rental Excellence Committee and the A.R.A. Investment Committee in 1996. He also served on the Governmental Affairs Committee in 1994.
In 1997, Bengson received the Region Eight Person of the Year Award.
Thomas Fouts, Bledsoe's Equipment, Lee's Summit, Mo.
Bledsoe's Equipment has been a member of the A.R.A. since 1962 and Fouts has been active in the rental industry since 1970. He purchased Bledsoe's from former Region Six Director Gene Chambers in 1988. He opened his second store later that year and his third in 1998.
He has served as president, vice president and secretary of the A.R.A. of Missouri and the Associated Rental Stores of Kansas City. Fouts has chaired the General Tool & Equipment Special Interest Group and served on the A.R.A. Board of Directors since 1998. This year, he is a member of the A.R.A. Executive and Budget Committees. He was a member of the Advertising & Marketing Committee from 1998 to 2000. He served on the Education Committee from 1993 to 1998, chairing the committee from 1995 to 1997.
In 1998 he was a member of the Rental Excellence Committee. He was a member of the Safety Manual Ad Hoc Committee from 1995 to 1996 and a member of the A.R.A. R.E.I.F. Scholarship Selection Committee.
Fouts also was a member of the A.R.A. Region Six Conference
Committee. Fouts received the Region Six Person of the Year Award in 1997
and the President's Image Building Award in 1999.

four directors to be elected
Region Two, Three, Nine, Associate Member positions open
All A.R.A. members will be able to cast their votes for the next vice president (see above), senior vice president and president of the association during elections this fall. And members in three regions will replace their outgoing regional directors. The associate member director-at-large position also is open.
Charles Neffle, owner of All Occasions Event Rental, Cincinnati, is running for president. David Wilcox II, owner of General Rental Center, Frankfort, Ky., is running for senior vice president.
Current A.R.A. President Frank Wilson, owner of Frank Wilson's Tents & Events, Augusta, Ga., will move on to the position of chairman of the board if elected by the A.R.A. Board of Directors at its meeting next February in Orlando, Fla.
Next month, Rental Management will feature biographies of the candidates in Regions Two, Three and Nine. Running in Region Two are Nancy Marshall of Reading Rentals in Reading, Pa., and Joseph Mihalko Jr. of Do-It-Yourself in East Hanover, N.J. Candidates in Region Three are Carl Newman of A & A Rentals in Sevierville, Tenn., and David Shaw of All Star Equipment Rentals in Charlotte, N.C. In Region Nine, the candidates are Patrick Gatrell of Gatrell Equipment Rental Corp. in Gardnerville, Nev., and Paul Schlerf of EquipRent in Azusa, Calif.
Running for the associate member director-at-large position are Jim Miller of RSS Distributors in Leola, Pa., and Kathryn Reissig of Stone Construction Equipment in Honeoye, N.Y.
Ballots for all A.R.A. positions will be mailed to members by Aug. 10 and counted Sept. 10.
