Neff Corp.-United Rentals negotiations are terminated

Neff Corp., Miami, recently announced that negotiations with United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., have terminated. United’s informal proposal dated Dec. 29, 2000, expired at the close of business on Feb. 26.

“Neff management will now focus on increasing shareholder value by increasing the company’s return on assets and strengthening the company’s balance sheet,” said Pete Gladis, Neff president and CEO. “At this point, the company is concluding its previously announced search for strategic alternatives and will seek to improve shareholder value from its existing operations.”
Neff Corp. operates 83 locations in 17 states.

RSC, Prime launch joint Web site

Rental Service Corp., Scottsdale, Ariz., and Prime Service, Houston, have launched a joint Web site at www.rentalservice.com.

“This effort is just the beginning of our corporate initative to develop a Web site with e-commerce service innovations that serve both the RSC construction focus and the Prime industrial focus,” says Ellen Steck, vice president of e-commerce for the Rental Service Business Area (RSBA).
The site includes tools for supporting customers with both industrial and construction rental needs. “Click-to-Connect” Technology provides real-time interaction between visitors and RSC and Prime customer service representatives. Escorted browsing enables the user to be directed through the site and share screen images with a customer service representative.

The Enhanced Mapping feature offers easy access to all RSC and Prime locations.

Individual store pages allow customers to view store locations, e-mail store managers, view store hours, and provide contact names and local event information.
